Attrition rates are horrendous
You struggle with exhaustion
New scope & competencies that may be great in theory are added to your workload at a time when your practice and/or hospitals are already short staffed
You start to wonder how long you can do this, and at what cost
You wonder what is wrong with you that you can’t hack it
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to learn, apply and gradually hone the 3 foundational skills you need to reclaim your time and energy, so that by the time you’ve completed the 3 month program you can face whatever the midwife life throws at you without becoming overwhelmed, and reconnect with your professional joy.

“What is it like to spend an hour each session focusing on what is nourishing and healing for me, investigating what my needs and dreams are for a happy, healthy life? What is it like to then be guided to make a clear plan for making important and attainable steps towards those goals every session? My answer to those questions is -simply glorious!
Working with Anna Jean is helping me find peace within myself, so that I can finally do the things that make me feel whole and well.
Anna Jean is calm, knowledgeable, insightful, and completely dedicated to helping me unravel my past tensions and building a personalized program, step-by-step through nutrition, creativity, spiritual and emotional well-being practices of health and wellness unlike anything I’ve done before.
Having previously known Anna Jean as a colleague, I am now absolutely impressed with her transition to her career as a coach. Her knowledge, skill level, attention to detail, calm and reassuring manner, are a balm as well as a motivation to my spirit, to do better for myself.
I highly recommend this program to Midwives looking to take care of themselves so that they can continue to care for others.”
ON Late career midwife
Anna Jean has been instrumental in helping me to make sense of my overwhelming life of being a full caseload on-call midwife and a parent, among other roles and life challenges.
Trying to keep all the balls in the air while also ensuring that I am looking after myself feels like an impossible task sometimes.
I started with Anna Jeans’ 14-session program in November 2023 and have felt a shift from feeling stuck in intense burnout to feeling like I can start to make sense of my priorities and goals career and otherwise.
I have been able to take steps towards not just surviving but thriving in my career and life.
Anna Jean has taught me strategies to break the stress cycle and manage stress in the moment.
Of course I have a way to go to get to a place that feels like a good balance but I have gained clarity to be able to make small changes towards that goal.
I am also sleeping better which is huge for me and feeling like I am more able to live in the moment.
I am finding the joy in life again. I highly recommend Anna Jean if you are experiencing burnout, stress or just want help setting and working towards health or life goals for yourself.

Working with Anna Jean, I quickly realized that the changes I was making -though small – were not insignificant!
Happy with being more organized and much more prepared to go on call – to feel ready and set up. The lists of what to do and what to pack and the food and water packing has really helped.
Happy with the work I’ve done to improve sleep!

From my very first session I felt seen and understood, which was huge for me.
I have been meaning to write to tell you that after our session on Tuesday, I did the 5 senses exercise on that bench.
And something so incredible happened…
for the first time, I felt a deep sense of knowing that I was going to be OK.
I called [my partner] in tears and they were all worried, but they were tears of relief and joy.
In those moments, I was able to find joy in seeing those leaves and flowers and feeling the wind on my face.. and I have been finding joy in being with my family this week..
I am still riding the high of that feeling that I am going to be OK.
I feel good about my progress taking my time off-call & seeing work as separate from rest of my life
Thank you so much for your amazing wisdom and help getting me here.
I am so grateful to the universe for putting you in my path.
Lots of love and thanks,

The first step is to set up a free, no obligation consult to be sure this is the right program for you.
Right now this is set up as a recovery and sleep consult (because for a lot of us, getting our energy back does start with sleep!), but we can talk about whatever you need and want.
If we have already had our call and you are ready to get started, you can sign up here!
I understand that the last thing you want is another commitment on your already overflowing plate. That’s why this program is designed with your busy, unpredictable schedule in mind. The strategies I teach are meant to be practical and sustainable—even if you're feeling completely overwhelmed. We focus on small, achievable changes that build over time, helping you regain control of your energy without adding more stress. Flexibility is key, and the program is built to work around your call schedules.
How will this program make a difference when I’ve already tried other ways to manage my stress?
What sets this program apart is that it’s tailored specifically for midwives—addressing the unique challenges of on-call work, sleep disruptions, and the emotional toll of caregiving. This isn’t about quick fixes; it’s about helping you develop lasting, evidence-based skills in recovery, energy management, and nervous system regulation. Plus, it’s not just about learning—it's about consistent support. We work together over several months to ensure you’re not just applying strategies but also honing them to fit your life.
Money is tight for everyone these days. Can I really afford this program?
Investing in your well-being can feel like a big step, but consider the cost of continuing as you are—burnout, exhaustion, and the toll they take on your career and personal life. What would it mean for your health, your relationships, and your ability to keep practicing if something doesn’t change?I offer flexible payment plans to make this program as accessible as possible, and there are even subsidized rates for those in specific circumstances. Furthermore, if, after 6 sessions, you don’t feel like you’re making significant progress, I offer a full money-back guarantee. I’m that confident this program will help you, and I want you to feel confident in your investment too.
I never finish anything. How will this be any different?
You’re not alone—many people struggle with sticking to programs. Working with a coach gives you a key edge. You won’t be left to figure it all out on your own. Instead, you’ll have consistent support, personalized guidance, and someone to hold you accountable every step of the way. Coaching provides a structure that helps you stay on track, even when life gets chaotic. I’ll be there to help you adjust your goals, navigate challenges, and celebrate your progress. Plus, this program is designed to be flexible and non-linear, so even if things don’t go perfectly, you’ll still be moving forward. It’s not about doing everything perfectly—it’s about making real, lasting changes with support that keeps you going, even when it feels tough.
Will I see real results?
Absolutely. The program is structured to provide measurable progress. We begin with assessments to establish your starting status, and we track your improvements over time. By the end of the program, clients typically experience improved sleep, better energy management, and a more balanced approach to both work and personal life. The success stories from midwives who have gone through this journey speak for themselves, and you’ll have the same opportunity to reclaim your energy and thrive.
I’m just one person. How can this help with the larger systemic issues in midwifery?
You’re right—there are larger systemic issues that need addressing. But it’s difficult to advocate for or contribute to those changes when you’re barely surviving. This program is about helping you regain your own resilience, so you’re in a stronger position to be part of the solution. By focusing on your personal sustainability, you not only improve your day-to-day well-being but also strengthen your ability to engage in the larger conversations and activism our profession needs.
Is this program for me if I’m not sure I want to stay in Midwifery? Or if I’ve already left?
Absolutely yes. Some of my clients have used this time to help them reclaim some of their bandwidth and resources while they make a more thoughtful and less panicked career change plan. It’s even for you if you have already left, because there is a lot to unpack so that you can move into your new reality without carting a boatload of stress and less than adaptive habits with you.

Let me introduce myself!
As a Registered Midwife now retired from clinical practice, I find myself enjoying catching up on nearly 40 years of missed sleep.
During my career, I practiced both pre- and post-legislation in urban and rural practices and hospitals, catching babies from Jamaica to the Arctic.
Always passionate about teaching and mentoring, I first supported learners through the apprenticeship model and then, for many years, served as an Adjunct Clinical Professor (Preceptor) for Ontario University Midwifery Education Programs.
In 2000 I experienced diagnosed burnout, but was able to recover and return to work for another two decades.
Since retirement, I have continued my long term participation as an Emergency Skills Workshop instructor, and I now periodically teach advanced clinical skills for the Association of Ontario Midwives.
As a Certified Coach and Registered Health & Nutrition Counsellor, I specialize in working with midwives and other health professionals who have to manage their wellbeing without the benefit of regular sleep.
While I miss working directly with birthing families, I am deeply committed to helping professionals like you enjoy a long and thriving career. When I support you, I also support the birthing families you serve!
I am in awe of the remarkable transformations I've witnessed in the lives of the midwife clients I’m privileged to work with.
The impact of their commitment, combined with this potent mix of evidence-supported resources, tailored goal setting, and consistent long-term support, strikes me time and again.
I live on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada, and I am the proud Nana of five grandchildren, all of whom I was honored to catch!
